Winter/Life...A sweet release

Winter/Life...A sweet release

A Poem by Gee
"

More simple fayre

"
Death, darkness, dormancy,
and every shade of grey
in this season of transition
that has night meld with the day,
where living now a graveyard shift
as nothing stirs, no sound,
the past old headstones rising through
an ermine covered ground,
that holds to heart in hallowed earth
our memories, tears and pain
for those who silent left to wait
until we meet again,
somewhere beyond this fleeting life,
somewhere in blissful peace
where winter, death, no longer seen
since granted sweet release...

What a beautiful, breathtaking and honest piece that I can see how work you put into it. All the words you chose were perfect and added so much to the poem. It feels very chilling but so real and that’s what’s really great about it. I hope you’re alright after this solemn write. Excellent piece. (:

Let's hope that blissful peace is sweet release to them Gee. I truly hope that death is exactly that. I am starting to think of it as retirement plus.

Hi Lorry, good way of looking at it and hopefully won't have to rely on handouts to keep warm :)

And Spring has sprung melting the winter grief! Melting memories run like rivers irrigating fields of peace blowing in the winds of release. I like the way you resurrect hope as the poem progresses. The release of tension in that last line is one of the best parts of poetry.

You might not have seen this haiku I wrote in a thank you note to everybody here I took down couple days ago...

Waves of Winter grief
Warming in eternal hope
Loving fields of words

Read you later,

Hi William, apologies for the tardy reply, thank you
Victorian is what I think. Almost Dickensian in its winter feel. Excellent writing and with just hints of the bitter tastes. of death and decay.

Bittersweet, something Poe might have written for lost Lenore maybe. Makes me think of John Keats.
Sorry. I find an old ghost haunting me lately.
Beautiful words, dear poet.

A season of transition.. now dark, death-like, "the graveyard " shift as you say. However it brings back sweet memories and gives hope for the next brighter season to arrive. And that means hope.
True, but a spark of light soon to come.

Depressing but nevertheless excellent writing. The 'black dog' (as Churchill used to suffer from and what he called his depression) sums it up rather nicely. Take heart dear writer all will be well!
