I really liked this. I think your use of typeface and point changes was integrated seamlessly and intensified the tension. This made me think of "The Life of Pi" and the helplessness the tiger sometimes suffered. I like the cadence of this; it seems to roll like the waves, billow up and down like the swells of the ocean. It does not appear there will be a happy ending for the kitten/tiger. Is that your intention? Or is this a metaphor? Like a fish out of water? Like anyone thrown into a completely alien environment and madly trying to survive? So the happy ending is not a duty of the poem, but the duty of he who struggles. Am I close?

Perhaps those icy shores will thaw.

It reminded me at first of Venus warning Adonais about boars ... but sharks ... they need to keep moving in order to breathe ... kind of puts the pressure on everyone else to keep moving. Sad about the tiger though ... in Alice, at least there was the other shore to swim to. Nice.

Oh yes, it is very sad about the tiger, but as the poem goes ... swim little kitten, swim.
Ah thank you Jacob! I thought I was being a little too literal with this and thought of the ' Life of Pye' which I have not read nor watched. Thought provoking pice Pryde.

Pi even!..........
yes, "Life of Pi"

still waiting to see that...

but often we have to drift and survive until we can grow strong enough to roar..

that could have to do with growing up, with getting back health...many applications for the allegory...

really liked this piece.
