Honeysuckle breeze

       carry me back

       to wading pools

       and tire swings

       and loved ones

gone from my grasp

memory bestows mellifluous benediction

 

Made all the sweeter

with age

The scent of lilacs does this to me. We had a huge lilac bush in our front yard, my mom would open the windows and let it in. I am instantly jolted back whenever I encounter them. Once again, Rita! Ha!
