A Chapter by Lyn Anderson

upon my chest
they rest
a thousand
tiny elfin
creatures
pins poised
to prick me
smiling sweetly
all the while
trying to regain
their standing
losing the
battle
as I turn
my back
on him
for good.

OUCH indeed....you know you want to do it, but you also know the pain will be horrid. Letting go is not easy and the ache you feel afterwards stings terribly. Still, ripping off a bandaid quickly and feeling the pain early is better than feeling it for years. You have a great way of expressing emotions.
