eclipse of me

eclipse of me

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

some passing thoughts on things past.

"
you gave me
more
than anyone
before

more hate
anger
bitter
betrayal --

right at the
start
a total eclipse
of the heart

you lied
denied
I cried
died --

but you
can't turn
back
the tide

with a tea cup
full of sorry
and an ounce
of regret.

and so,
I say yes,
you gave me
more ...

that's why
I had to learn
to care
less.

Bitterness has to be felt sometime or the other or self love cannot be induced...Process of evolution. I felt this way a number of times. Then I realized I was turning in the wrong direction. At the end everybody is fighting with the outward bitterness. A strong piece.

Good ol' Bonnie is one of those songs that cannot be topped in my modest and the writing well, not difficult to relate to as if you want to preserve that aspect of you that relates to the sanity of living then you cannot put at risk. In here is is clearly described, no way am I doing that again.

Thankyou

yes, a teacup full of sorry...just won't cut it...and those tea bags are filled with fake contrition.

Thank you so much for stopping in.
condensed, power in each line.. I love the trailing thought that twists and turns on this journey of where you are now and thought processes behind it.. "tea cup of sorry and an ounce of regret".. I have to say those lines are my favorite.. that regret is always fleeting and not really sincere in my experiences... always been a fan of this song.. well paired ma'am... killer ending with so much truth as always... AMEN!... brilliant as always:)

Thank you so much, I appreciate it.
A wonderfully polarized poem KL. I really enjoyed the way you structured your words like little stabs.

Thank you, yes, that was the aim. People who scoff at free verse think it has no logic to it. Not so.. read more
Funny how when people treat us badly it can give us more resolve, will power and even self belief once we have a contrast against which to compare it. As always wrtitten in concise free vers.
