He says hello and walk in

He says hello and walk in

A Chapter by R E Tree

I am trapped,

I am locked in,

For years

I have twisted and turned

The stiff handle

Sticking out of the door

Dripping with sweat

From my palm

I have pulled

With all my strength

The door,

As heavy as a rock

My life has gone

Spent on trying to open the door

I have had tears

I have had pain

But no one has ever heard me,

Screaming and yelling

From the other side of the door

Never have I given up

Not while my body breathes

To say I'm still alive

Then I suddenly hear

An echoing voice

Coming from behind the door

A loud and beautiful voice

The sound of a man

Asking me to open the door

And walk in and say hello

I spoke but no reply

After that it was a voice

I heard often

When I felt like giving up

Trapped,

With no light

Starving with no food

I often feel

I am going to die

But my hopes are still strong

I know I am still alive

But I feel dead inside

I wonder...

If my hopes are strong enough

To break down the door

I think I know

What's behind it

The voice I have been hearing

I guess it's the door to his life

I wish to walk in and say hello

Lots of strong emotion. I think this can be taken in several different ways and is very identifiable to many. All good because I believe poetry needs to relatable as many folks as possible. Well done!

A poem of the harshness of being trapped with only the vague hope of being rescued. Such a struggle just to keep going.

Good write. A lot can be taken from this, depending on the readers frame of mind at the time of reading. Really great descriptions and a feeling of struggle painted with hope.

You did well to convey a tense drama here with good feelings and the cogent images of the door, nice one.

I so know this feeling of being stuck in life and its hard to find your way back but never give up and once you do find your way what a wonderful feeling love this poem

I often feel like this about writing ... there is a door ... on one side I waste my life writing ... I have no idea how to open the door or even what is on the other side, but I can't stop writing or wondering. Ach! You've captured the feeling of longing really well here. Of course we have to overcome the door somehow.

Never have I given up
Not while my body breathes
To say I'm still alive

You have captured that indomitable spirit perfectly in these lines which were my favorite of all of them!!!
