Prosperity

Prosperity

A Poem by Chris Shaw

Many a leaf floats softly down,
a blaze of gold upon the ground
comes treasure from a grieving tree.

And like our loved ones when they're gone,
in precious thought they still live on
and that means all the world to me.

this reminds me of Vermont as well....that pic of my mom...the beauty of fall, her beauty...and then the impending winter to come...so cold and lonely without her....i enjoyed the prosperity of having my folks for so long....having those summers and falls in Vermont...i was quite lucky.

I would like to think there is more truth to these words than the smile it gifts me and mere skilful poetic licence .. for it is indeed quite lovely and contains not just golden observations, but is comprised of a simple philosophy that I have long subscribed to .. and at the end of a long day, a keeper .. The love for a fallen leaf, perhaps that's something only a poet can know. Certainly it would take one to express such a thought. Though I always imagined the trees sighing at the loss of their leaves.

Well, i must have been on a top secret spying mission (in bed) when you wrote this Chris, as it seems i am late to the party. (that bloody postman always seems to lose my invites) 😀
But glad i found this little gem, just laying there like a leaf on the ground, waiting for the sun to glint it into being noticed.
Life does have a way of connecting our emotions with the most implausible of sights, like a lone leaf, or a chill, running through our database and bringing to mind loved ones, from the simplest things complexity builds.
A little gem here amongst the many.

I imagine you have a glorious and well preserved leaf collection my dear Christine I always say the true measure of person is how many hearts you have touched and touched yours... that is the true currency that one will be asked to pay when the time comes to meet the divine and me thinks in that realm you are wealthy... Merry Christmas:)

The rhyme and beauty
in this piece how sweet lovely
and alittle Melancholic,

But so beautiful as our
loved ones live in our hearts...

And in everything we do
we carry them with us always.

They live in our memories
laughter our traditions,

In our family traits and looks
and habits passed down to
us.

So we see them in the
mirror even though we're
ourselves they're with us
always.

Many a leaf floats softly down,
a blaze of gold upon the ground
comes treasure from a grieving tree.
