That's it. Just be safe out there whatever you do, if you do go out at night, go out in groups, Trick-Or-Treating too, and that really is a lot more fun anyways. :)

What happened today ?

Well, let's address what happened yesterday night first.

I saw the movie, "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" for the first time. Yah I know you're saying that's so old and why hadn't you seen it before ?

Well I try to avoid scary stuff. I know a friend of mine years ago had a video of this and showed me a scene he, 'really liked' where Jack Nicholson was receiving an electric treatment. I think it was Brett. He showed me something else too that was offensive on video cause he likes to shock me (no pun intended).

Anyways that one scene with Jack scared me so much I told myself I would never watch that movie. Well - I'm a little older now, so I did. And, I guess I'm not too surprised that the ward they ran there was very similar to the one I was in.

In many ways I agree with Nurse Ratchet. She said, raise your hand if you want to watch a baseball game with this patient or keep your hand down if you want to maintain the rules as they are.

Now I know all my life I've been a pacifist, coward, well, call it what you will. I think I'm sorta smart in some stuff, especially about computers and programming but really REALLY dumb in others, especially 'street sense' my sister calls it.

Anyways, I wanted to raise my hand, but I didn't. I kept it down for Nurse Ratchet. And maybe I should feel guilty for that. But I'm the kinna person that says if it ain't broke don't fix it. And she played nice music in the halls anyways.

I know she wasn't a really loving person, but she was protective of the patients and I admired that. She wanted order.

Well today I've been talking with a friend who wants to make changes in Writer's Cafe policy, for the better because of an unfair system. Well, yes and no. I'm for it, but I also don't want anyone getting hurt in the process.

Perhaps I'm a little sensitive to online wars but I feel I've seen and have been in the direct fire of some real beauts in my time. And - I'm trying to avoid it now, I'm a retired purple heart veteran in that respect, and I'm not saying that loosely if you know what I've been through.

So my psychology today is, unless someone goes out and deliberately hurts someone, I don't beat in their door and accuse them of this-that-the-other. Like one of my neighbors tried to sell me some drugs at the first apartment I stayed in.

I talked to Chris about it back then, he said, well is he still bothering you ? I replied, except for that one time, no.

He said, then leave it alone. I asked, can't I call the police or something ? And he said, yah you can but think about it. If he gets busted, his buddies are immediately gonna blame you cause you're the neighbor, and they already know you DON'T do drugs cause they asked if you wanted to buy some earlier.

So you're not a customer and likely they DO have customers, paying ones, so they're already on the lookout for you.

You think things are bad in your life now ? Just wait till you get an enemy, one who gets thrown in jail cause he got caught selling illegal drugs. You'll get a bullet in the head from his buddies as revenge. Stay out of it !

And to this day, I really only have one injury from a fight back in 5th grade, my right thumb has a funmy white line down the palm where he bent back my thumb and dislocated it. And it still hurts sometimes.

But to this day aside from some self-inflicted stuff from depression and earlier suicide attempts, I have all my limbs, never been stabbed, shot, or otherwise.

Why ? Cause I really do try and mind my own business. Now I =WILL= call the police and investigators and stuff if it's on =MY= turf, where it's actually a problem that you know can be handled at once. Where the authorities will immediately go to work.

I guess what I'm saying is - I don't look for trouble, and thankfully trouble doesn't come looking for me.

It's a grim fact of life but the more waves you create in the world, the better chance you have of capsizing your boat and it's not just you, but other people will drown too, friends you may know.

So - be careful out there. Keep your head on a swivel as my Dad says, be aware of what's happening around you, but don't be an idiot or foolhardy about it either. Don't be a dead hero, as my sister says.

Take care of you and your own - that should be more than a handful right there.

... Hmm ... Okay, tomorrow I do indeed see Chris and we're gonna spend the day together so I'm taking it entirely off.

Monday however I'll post a new Campfire Tale, the popular Wit & Wisdom, and go from there.

That's it. Just be safe out there whatever you do, if you do go out at night, go out in groups, Trick-Or-Treating too, and that really is a lot more fun anyways. :)

How can you believe something without proving it to yourself first ?

It's important and encouraged to have a sound basis for your personal beliefs. But also, friendships, and the word of others. Their bond. Their word.

I trust my friends because I know that past experiences have built a relationship based on trust and respect, mutually, reciprocal, and that I have no need to question anything my friends do that perhaps I don't understand.

The way to develop this kind of trust, involves realising that you should never lie FOR your friends, for if you are prepared to do that, then what's to say you wouldn't lie TO them?

No, it is certainly possible to believe something and have confidence, but it has to be solidly based on previous experience of what you found to be truthful.
