A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

on the subject of poetry

sea

sky

sand clouds

poem

see

sky

sans clouds

poem

writer's hourglass

sky's the limit

ideas hit the throttle

invade space

warp speed thoughts

of sea

sky

clouds optional

tears not

love not

pain not

carriage ride

the typist's overt ego

intercedes

sans sense

sans feeling

sans free verse swinging

see?

poetry

clouds hover

tears

pain

love

wait in shelter

until it all passes

then look up

to see words

like fallout

drop from the sky

as cynics

look up

and deny.

Oh heck, i have read this 3 times now Jacob, and you know how i struggle sometimes lol

I can only say that a friend once told me to write poems to make our friends smile because there is enough angst in the world without adding to it.
So mainly that is what i do ...... if poems start getting maudlin then i just tear them up, in the bin they go ...

I think what you're getting at here is poetry has become too much "fufu" meaning clouds, sky, sea, cosmos,
flowers, balloons, etc....why can't we talk of relationships (bad or good) , or suffering, or pain, or death, or struggle....we should be putting more feeling into our poetry....more human feeling...and let our minds go more stream of conscienceless... less of the "the sea meets the sky and blend together" kind of mindset.
Am I correct?
Best, B
