Useful Fiction

A Chapter by Kenneth The Poet

Is obesity
really the cure for extreme
anorexia?

Is the opposite
true as well, starvation on
par with a famine?

Is there not a mean
between these extremes of Rhode
Island and Texas?

Between Flockhart and
Manheim, between a stock pond
and the Caspian?

No, there is only
lead, follow or move aside,
leader's trilemma.

Be the biggest and
be the baddest and be the
best and nothing else.

There is nothing else
because this is mankind's main
trait, its watermark.

History teaches
us this lesson very well,
somebody will win.

Somebody will win
and subvert others always,
until we all die.

Even then one more
animal type will rise up
and do the same thing.

One horny rabbit
chases another around
the telephone pole.

If they grew free will,
would there base urges be kept
in some kind of check?

It is unlikely,
highly so because pigs have
not yet sprouted wings.

Rabbits have humans
as their role models and look
at their long record.

Moderation is
a useful fiction, just like
all moral systems.

The Earth is one mean
place, unforgiving in its
unkind demeanor.

Be the best or die
like the rest, and obstruction
live by this truth too.

Excellent circularity here. I love the paradoxes created in opposites, for people tend to make such extremes of opposites. Truly, it is terrifying that we live in an age where we can impoverish most of the world to give ourselves an infinity of food -- and then turn it into allergies, into fat- and cholesterol- and non-organic- phobias, into simple obesity.

Homeopathy is an amusing extreme. Like cures like, yes? You have symptom X. Y causes symptom X. You need to take Y.
But not on its own, no no, you need dilution to lead to some essential energy that lies behind the effect of Y.

Water causes drowning, yes? You are drowning. So, we add water. We dilute the water. Eventually, the diluted water will cure the damage of water.

Yes. A world where we drown the drowning further. Where we endorse their healing through further death.

Believe. Believe in the circularity.

there are so many things I can say, LOL, but I won't, I will say I enjoyed this, though I am not a leader or a winner, I exist and live with a little faith, we need something to get us through the day...
