Remember the Message aas well as the messenger

Remember the Message aas well as the messenger

A Chapter by Richard B. Berry

You eat the bread and drink the wine

All in remembrance of him

Your redeemer, your Messiah

You do so, in front of neighbors,

Without hesitation

Your fine clothes and paid tithes

You talk the talk

Walking the walk, something different

No mercy, no compassion

You forgot what he said

About the meek inheriting the earth

About eyes of needles and camels

About the plank in your neighbors eye

And removing yours

You also forgot about love

The love where we stand up

Defend those who are weak

Comfort those who are hurting

Feed those who are hungry

Heal those that are sick

Jesus loves you

Despite yourself

Remember the message

As well as the messenger
