If i were a carpenter

If i were a carpenter

A Poem by wordman

Life without you,

i wouldn`t understand if,

you wasn`t my lady,

and i wasn`t your man.

my life wouldn`t be the same,

without you,

but the world,

wouldn`t either

you take my breath away,

you sooth my soul,

when we`re apart

my heart is cold.

one day,

i will build a cabin,

in the sky

where eagles soar

and we never die.

My lips are sweet,

my love is true,

and i give it all,

all to you...

I always admire the sincerity, humility and simple tone of your poems. I can hear Alan Jackson or one of the true country artists singing this in a dim concert hall, just his voice, a guitar and a white halo around his wood stool. Sure, Elton John, but I'd prefer the country version of this one. Another enjoyable work.

I was attracted to your title because I remember Johnny Cash singing: "If I were a carpenter and you were a lady, would you marry me anyway, would you have my baby..." I like that "if I were a carpenter" means that you would build a cabin in the sky where eagles soar and we never die. That's a beautiful thought.

lol,i have my moments,thank you
A very nicely done piece for that very special someone, but have you seen the price of lumber lately
A cabin anywhere is becoming a pricy undertaking which makes it even that much more special

Cabin in the sky. Definitely a lofty ambition but love always has been.
Thanks for sharing, Wordman.

I like the honesty of this. It somehow strikes on a deep level that flowery prose couldn't hit. Simplicity is the greatest form of beauty (in my opinion.) A wonderful poem.

This is a thoughtful and tender way of expressing your love to another, wordman. The romantic tone fits the words like a bow. Nicely done.
