A Joni Mitchel Update

A Joni Mitchel Update

A Chapter by Dave Brown

A pristine cabin on a quiet street

A country garden, prim and neat

Tall trees framing a charming retreat

DEMOLISHED FOR A CONDO

A quiet country road wandering

Alongside a burbling stream

Where deer and fawn are often seen

RIPPED UP FOR A FREEWAY

A quaint quiet, country corner store

With a pretty pink front door

Where friendly folks have met evermore

FLATTENED FOR A SHOPPING MALL

A deep valley which nature had blessed

With bees that buzz and birds that nest

A million trees all having stood the test

HACKED DOWN FOR A SUBDIVISION

That which was and is no more

A stand of trees, a country store

That which used to mark our core

GREEDILY RAPED FOR PROGRESS

If it ain’t a parkinlot

It’ll soon fill that slot

Sadly we are seeing more and more of this. I find it upsetting that so many green areas are being built on. I particularly find the destruction of trees and woodland savage. Sadly we have lost our spruce. It will be felled next week. Been with us over 40 years. I grieve for that tree. I sense your anger in CAPITALS over this willful destruction Dave.
