Garden Wall

Garden Wall

A Chapter by Dave Brown

Stone in mortar, built all round

Inside, safe and fertile ground

For keeping out or keeping in

Tall and strong, for either sin

This barrier forms my safe surround

Away from concerns too often found

From forbidden fruit or snake

Until that day, stones crack and break

No roads for me, to stumble down

To play the fool or be the clown

Not step aside when others squawk

Or concerns about foul idle talk

Why stray beyond my safe abode

Where to travel, down what road

The toils and foils of foolish man

Conspire to keep me where I am

This is the life, which fills my need

And stay I will, to sew my seed

To write my poem, and take my rest

Safe and sound within my nest

Dave,
I found myself carried along by the rhyme rhythms you created and never once felt the tug of intrusion that forced rhyme creates. Brilliantly done.

I appreciate your comment
Hope all is well and thanks for stopping by
I very much do resonate with the sentiments embedded in your work, author Dave Brown. Perhaps it was by chance too relatable that I felt myself confessing nonsensical rhymes to appease my desires, and thus a Sonnet was born, for you.

Sonnet: Will You Allow a Chirping Bird, Author Dave Brown?

Please hear yourself, the desires from within,
There are many reasons why you'd prefer a nest's comfort,
Your holed-up desires, I find much akin,
I too, at times, write in my pot while the outside world distorts,

But even with a Garden Wall so high,
So tippy-topsy high that it touches the sky,
Will you accept companionship from those that fly,
Those who chirp rhymes as yours and are warblers as I,

So even if you had been content with your needs,
Will you still allow a chirping bird into your garden,
For it to lend you nonsensical verses with its tweets?
For it to lend you images of where it had been and stationed?

So, author Dave Brown, what say you on this matter,
Will you allow this chirping bird into your garden later?

(A Gift Sonnet I made, but author Dave Brown, you didn't have read requests allowed... So I posted it here)
