Butterflies

I saw a butterfly today

But it wasn’t really for real

It was only in my mind

Just an image surreal

 

I’ve seen toads and bumblebees

And two garter snake’s kissing

But for some reason,

Butterflies were missing

 

I’ve seen birds on branches

Squirrels were easily found

I saw a stoic owl sitting

But there weren't butterflies around

 

When a hummingbird hoovered near

I asked where the butterflies were

She got up very close

To whisper that, she wasn’t sure

 

Emails have been sent out

All through the many hours

Requesting that all butterflies

Come to visit with our flowers

I love this poem about butterflies. I love them. They are graceful and stunning to watch float around the yard. I’ve already seen quite a few bouncing from dandy to dandelion. I hope you see them soon!!

Such a pity to miss out on butterflies. Apart from them being beautiful to look at, I find them to be so spiritual. Hard to believe they came from a caterpillar. A lovely poem Dave. Hope you are having a pleasant Saturday. Cold and wet here!
