Broken Pieces

We can see them all around us
...........................look .................................

shattered scatterings like
dead winter leaves blowing and breaking                        crushed                        burning

We can smell them and see them in pieces and
singed hair

scalding over blisters healed

unfolding every day
all around us

bullets to the head as they say                                                            They say a lot of things
don't they ............
                                                                        and then there is silence

in the screaming.

Such a darkness to this piece. Yet so relatable for now...Bullets to the heads....People take bullets to their heads as calmly as we would take a hat to our heads! No patience, no endurance, no fortitude. They say a lot and then there is silence. Their screams drown unheard. The shattered casing of their heads, their 15 minutes of fame. A Poem from you after so long, dear E and certainly one to remember and return for re-reads. Loved it and the lovely artwork too! ❤🙋‍♀️❤

Wow! dear Gene... I feel your frustration and sadness, this can be both, real violence and psychological one, i.e real bullets that kill and words that kill too! the way your poem flows scatteringly is perfect and smart, because from nowhere these bullets hit us. may You only find peace in your heart and mind my wonderful friend~

I shudder at the shatters and then I close my shutters cause there's so little of me left to shatter anymore:( but then I flutter and I have to go out and pick up the tatters and have to weave them back together... because they matter:) This made me think of Tyre Nichols

A broken world for sure. I grew up on the south side of Chicago. It is a war zone. "Shattered scatterings" brings to mind the homeless, the mental illness and addictions.
When did we forget WE are our brother's keeper... Broken Pieces (to me) reflects that pain.

Outstanding E.N. I get the sense not only of mass shooters but of mass despondency. A question: Here in Oklahoma noodling is fishing for catfish by jumping into the water and coaxing 60 pound fish to chomp down on your hands.
The question? Is there a better way, an Einstein Noodling you might say?

Your artwork Mr E is stunning in this spontaneous write which has a real darkness about it. Broken artwork, broken people and my mind transports to over thirty mass shootings which have taken place so far in the States this year. I am left horrified at the number of deaths and the knock on effect on so many family and friends of those who died as a result of maniacs who want their 15 minutes of fame. Taking out as many as they can. The line

We can smell them and see them in pieces
and singed hair

that line is particularly gruesome for me. We have problems with knives but you can kill far faster and far more with guns. A horrible start to a new year. Your pen tells it as it is.

It's sad to read this after hearing of a shooting that left 10 dead last night. There are too many broken pieces in our world. Too many shattered lives, some with hidden pain that will never fully be revealed.

Life sometimes only shows us its dark side. Some blisters never heal....and the screaming echoes in our souls at dark thirty. Great metaphor with the leaves. A very well written poem, E. I like it.
