Grief

Grief

A Poem by Gee
"

Have become well acquainted with grief this past 6 months

"
Grief

The pen, the page, they welcome you
the heart though not at all,
as misery's your companion
each time you come to call,
though misery, or so it seems
does with our muse sit well,
gives clarity to train of thought
as words our heartache tell,
to those that too have loved and lost
have buried, mourned and cried,
and too have stained the pristine white
when cherished ones have died.

You write of grief well, Gee. As terrible as that sounds, though. The experience is never one to enjoy. You are correct about the muse, though. She loves that misery and she can urge us into some great poems when under its spell. Hopefully your days of grief are over for a long time to come. A poem packed with your depth of feeling and experiences undergone. ⚘

Merry Christmas, thank you
For a quickie, it could be worse.

I'd like to see you post a song with this though, if just to see what your taste in music is.

Andrea Bocelli...the blind guy :))
A quickie that packs a punch! This made me wonder what people who don't have an outlet for their grief do with it. And the healing doesn't so much come from the writing of it but the sharing of it. And getting help to carry the burden of grief after the sharing of it. Is it possible that grief is the most powerful of emotions? The power to incapacitate.

Thank you Julie
When one is in grief, the heart is right with you.... words can console, but the sadness lingers....misery is your companion, which is very true...comforting words can sooth the pain.
Well done Gee.
Best and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!

Beautiful, deeply moving "quickie" dear Gee. So much grief in the world now. Great language, rhyme, cadence, imagery, metaphor. Grief lends to writing inspiration, but takes a heavy toll on the heart. I am so sorry for yours. I feel your emotions strongly. I've personally have been through hell these last seven months with hubby's long covid battle. Though he's doing better, each day is a struggle. We all walk a tightrope these days. Holidays, though joyous, bring memories of those passed, to the forefront. Wishing you and yours many blessings and peace and comfort for the holidays and always.

Thank you Annette, my best wishes to your hubby.
Thank you for your kind words
"and to have stained the pristine white"
love that line.
and yes, it is much easier for poets to write misery than joy.
much easier.
perfect gem here.

Not bad for a quickie! I found it rather appropriate having just lost a dear friend. Well written prose and easy to follow. Thank you.

A very strong and melancholic piece Gee. It flows perfectly with raw emotion and sentiment behind it. A wonderful poem indeed.

This is well written, Gee. As you may or may not know, my father passed at the end of October. This will be the first christmas without him. Grief takes solong to get over it seems. But life goes on. :)
