Odette

Odette

A Chapter by TheConjuringCat

To live for a few brief moments

On stage.

She smiled, not just with her mouth, but

With her whole body.

She flitted about the stage,

The bright lights tickling her skin,

This is what all the world wanted

But only a few had.

The power to control an entire audience.

To make them cry,

Make them laugh.

It was all hers.

She'd gone through a hundred Pointe shoes,

A hundred rehersals,

Through physical pain

And emotional agony

To get to this moment.

She lived in the dangerous world of

The Theater.

A world of stark contrasts.

Harsh and cutthroat,

Yet graceful and delicate.

But it was all worth it,

To live for a few brief moments

On stage.

I really like this, and your metaphors. The way you phrase and the way you word your sentences is very creative. 1,000 Thumbs up.

Beautiful. I've danced ballet before, when I was younger, and it hurt like crazy. It's true how the performance is all the reward the performer needs. I perform a lot (with my choir), so I know the feeling.

And the stuff about making the audience laugh and making them cry? Well, in this poem, the girl performing is not the only one who has that power. You do. Your words brought a smile to my face. Your words made me smile.

Amazing, and PLEASE keep on going. :)
