White Ribbons

White Ribbons

A Chapter by TheConjuringCat

She is very shy,

Dark eyes downcast,

Small, rosy lips curled in a slight smile,

A white ribbon in her dark hair.

Her voice is soft,

Words gentle and kind.

Her hands around folded on her lap,

Ankles crossed under her chair,

Her pale cheeks blush pink at flattering words.

She is shy.

She doesn't speak much,

But compliments are spred,

Old fashioned words of encouragment.

Only to those she truly loves

Will she laugh and holler.

Only around them

Will she shed her shyness

And be herself.

But to others,

She is a pretty porcelain doll

That never says

A single word.

Author's Note

TheConjuringCat
I'm "the shy, quiet one" in my group of friends. I have a quiet voice and don't really talk a lot when I'm not around my really close friends. Around my friends I can be loud and crazy everynow and then, but most people never actually see my true craziness.
The chapter about stereotypes my good friend Rose Petal Winter wrote really got me thinking about the way people describe me when they first meet me. So, using what other people first say about me, I came up with this :)
And I love to put ribbons in my hair, which explains the title.

Lovely... imagery so nice and touching. I can see myself in this some. And what you said in your author's note about the ribbons in your hair... cute, and cute fore the title as well. Very nice.

This is me as well. Except for the fact that this isn't ALL of me. Sometimes, I feel like two people. When I'm at school, or with anyone else besides those REALLY close to me, I'm the shy, solemn me with a very old soul. But when I'm alone, I'm secretly crazy hyper and random.

*sighs* Why must there be stereotypes in the world? We're all people. Why can't we all just eachother as people instead of "that tomboy down the street" or "the shy one" or "that girl who seems to blend into the background" ?
