Between pains

Between pains

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

I thought of this a day ago, and then again, napkin jotting - have to pull it out.

"
I pen my best
between pains -

On the precipice
of something dark
on the edge of leaving
you.

When I am in
the pain,
the weight is
too much to bear -
my brain is
starved for oxygen,
my fingers unable
to process thought
into words on the page.

I pen my best
between pains -

When I step
out of the pain
completely,
my words
fall flat
like yesterday's
refrigerated soda;
greeting card
sloppy seconds.

I pen my best
between pains -

Without
you
my pen may
soon dry out.

I don't share your background in the literary field, so my comments spew forth from a commoner's reaction. If I understand correctly, that's what this is all about, reactionary. If there is no pain...there is no reaction. Also read Napking Jotting. Loved it. Great read. Thanks.

poets thrive on pain...always.

it is hard to write when we are totally content...there has to be some chaos in our heart.

I doubt your pen will dry out, as poets we can always find something to 'pain' about...I totally relate lady, your pen speaks volumes no matter what color ink it dribbles. ;-)
