Friccasee

Friccasee

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

there it is.

"
Fricasseed intentions
love's lost dimensions
encompass to include
what once it did exclude
betrayal's sweet denial
blade unsheathed
exposed coppery
red taste beneath
rushing rivulet's disbelief
lodged somewhere between
the ribs of her chest
the words of the one
who knew her best
snuggly rest.

I will admit to Googling Friccasee to see if it was really a word. I mean it was just too good not to be. The definition: is a method of cooking meat in which the meat is cut up, sautéed, and braised, and served with its sauce, traditionally a white sauce

So there you go, it kind of puts a sick twist on your writing. But that just makes it all the more clever!

Sick and twisted. That's me, and that's the person who served up this dish to me.
I clicked on this cause I recognized Friccasee as a food dish.
My mistake XD
Very nice by the way.

Really like the way you use friccasee as a verb, and the wry, dark couplet at the end finishes this poem off very well...good write, lots of good imagery, fine job.

Sounds like youve been stabbed in the heart...sigh. Back or front the pain is terrible... and usually inflicted by someone we trusted. Great write KL....you always know how to hit it home.

Lodged somewhere between the ribs of her chest the words of the one who knew her best. I like these lines, contemplative.
