Amen hun...I remember being very young and thinking that very thing. You see the problem is that the "I'm nothing without you" thing has been romanticized in music, literature and the big screen forever. We don't really think about the bad side of it. That when you are so empty and needy on the inside you cant possibly have a healthy relationship with someone. You will literally suck them dry...and this doesn't just apply to romantic relationships. Ever had one of those friends who constantly needed your approval and validation to function?? Ughhhh...

You are right. It applies to all relationships -- friends, lovers, and even family. Yes, blood is thicker than water, but sometimes you can't even sustain it for family -- I find this decidedly UNromantic and an actual sickening thought, coming from that place of these very words being said to me, over and over again.
