Washed Future?

Washed Future?

A Chapter by Ethan Paz
"

A poem describing the hopes of "Who I want to be" or the question of "Who am I?".

"

Who am I in your eyes

Do you see a man

Who’s strong or dressed in disguise?

I walk the melodic, notes of life.

The purring sound of waves clean

The footsteps of joy’s night past.

Let my life not be dark but easily seen.

True content and praise, let me feel.

I’m looking back at the dusted road, where’ve I aimlessly trod

Hoping . . . dawn’s assurance comes and waves rise no more.

When all is done, I shed new footsteps abroad.

Omg, this is a beautiful piece conveying a lesson or conflict that I think is one of man's prime question. It's a question, I think, Man asks God the most. Especially someone like me who often struggle with such feelings.

Also I see a cute trend. In the beginning stanza, you ryhme with almost all of the lines except one, then the rhyming loosens down to a freestyle ending. Whether you intended to do that or not, I break into gleeful chuckles thinking about it.

I like the pictures you used to associate with the stanzas. Like the lines with the ocean waves correspond well with ocean waves and footsteps with a new pathway. It just made it even more beautiful. Also, the song in the author's note. You won't mind if I take that idea, would ya?

This is an excellent write. I particularly like,,
"The purring sound of waves clean

The footsteps of joy’s night past.

Let my life not be dark but easily seen.

True content and praise, let me feel."

We all at varied times, have theses questions of who or what we are. The answer will not come from someone else but from within ourselves.

I like this poem. The statements were strong and I like the feel and the emotion of your poem. I like the ending a lot. A excellent poem.
