TEN Little Pigs

TEN Little Pigs

A Chapter by Ana Papaya
"

This was meant to help daughter learn how to count ...

"

~~*

I picked a piglet from the pen,

To save him from the other TEN.

TWO were large as full size hogs.

FOUR barked at him just like dogs.

SIX little pigs were always mad.

EIGHT little pigs were always sad.

Wait a minute...

Were there TEN pigs in the pen?

No.

I think I’ll have to count again.

TWO plus FOUR plus SIX plus EIGHT,

Equals TWENTY pigs fussing at mygate.

Now if I just add in TEN pigs more...

That’s THIRTY pigs (including ONE boar!)

I picked a piglet from the pen,

(Where he lived with way more than TEN.)

But I must have closed that gate up wrong

Because now all the pigs are on my lawn!!

Ana Papaya
Just a little number rhyming poem I made up to help with adding and counting by two...
May need to use both fingers and toes for counting, and then some. :)

So cute and such fun that you made this up to help teach your daughter to count and do her early sums. Delightful Ana. One day she may recite it to her own children:)

I enjoyed the poem. A lot of piggies and a open gate ending. Thank you Ana for sharing the entertaining poetry.

You are welcome dear Poet.
well Papaya. even though I have 6 fingers on each hand and 6 toes on each foot I only come to 24 and well can't count that high up there 30... two is the number you are counting by while I am multiplying by 4 and then adding by 4 to count all them piggies...

you know Ana, that will make for a lot of ham sandwiches and chops and ham and string beans.... any chance you may want to count higher... lol... but this poem was to help your daughter count and I am sure she wouldn't want those piggies made into sandwiches sooooo just forget my counting techniques.... I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of any daughters or their moms... so backing out of the room while the getting out is still good...

oh, I did enjoy your counting poem and now I can count to 30 without fingers or toes....;0)

Just a little number rhyming poem with a question for reader to use both fingers and toes for counting, and then some.??

I love the way "I picked a piglet from the pen" is reminiscent of "picked a peck of pickled peppers" from the long-ago nursery rhyme. Your rhyme & rhythm are perfect for this playful ditty where serious calculations are not allowed. I think the inclusion of NUMBERS is a bit much & I would've enjoyed more sensory fun included, tho *oink!*

Yes, this would be a good one for teaching numbers. That makes sense.
Meant to write this in my own review so....

"Hard to believe you wrote that heavy poem due to such a shift in overall mood and tone shows you are versatile and worthy of all praise you recieve ....and it is cute"
