the rags that served as eumira’s clothes cracked as she moved, the dried blood flaking off in clumps. lillian wondered what all the girl had been put through by the elders simply for her bloodline. it had not taken long for the girls legs to grow strong and steady under her again, but she clearly limped on her mangled body. a jagged scar ran across her face, still purple letting all know it was new. lillian recognized this from her own scars that covered her body. 

“how long have you been here?”

she asked watching and measuring the girls response
