Inside was her fathers cloak, her grandfathers spyglass, a sword from years ago,and a helmet whose owner had long ago been forgotten. it held a maidens dress and an old portrait. on the bottom was a map that had been drawn by the first to own the trunk, it had been added to by each of the owners. lillian tenderly took the map and rolled it into a tight bundle around it she wrapped an old deer skin. she took the maidens dress taking in its simplicity it was a warm brown color with long sleeves and fitted bodice. the dress was lined on the interior with fur and the bottom had cuts to allow for mobility they could easily be hidden in the folds of the gown. this was a dress made for a rough life she donned quickly before she could change her mind. over it she placed her fathers cloak, its soft black wool wrapping to her frame. she placed the sword upon her hip hiding it beneath the cloak.

Honestly, I believe you can go into full detail about the dress. The map seems odd since is was owned by the first generation that made the trunk. I am very interested.

i'm not very inept at describing clothes, and i don't want to describe it incorrectly and throw the readers off, the map i'm going to go back and put this, but its on the skin side of a dear skin making it very durable and efficient for travel

I would have to say that is the hardest part for me as well. You have a visualization of the clothing your character has, but you don't know the right words to describe them.

I went as far as looking up different types of sweaters on google images to find an argyle sweater.

lol, i might have to do that, i'm thinking about going to clothing reviews and see how they describe them there at least i know then that i'll get some vocabulary that will be adept at describing clothes
