Chapter 7    Joel

“Where the hell did you go Joe? I hear Lizbeth scream across the phone even though I don’t have the call on speaker it sounds exactly like that.

“I am in New Orleans” I say trying to get the call to go a little softer spoken.

“New Orleans, what are you doing there? Asks Lizbeth in a calmer manner.

“I don’t know, I just took the next flight that went out, this is where it took me” I say as if that was a good explanation.

“Well how are you liking it there? Asks Lizbeth

“So far its good. Met a few people no friends yet but soon I assume” I reply

“That’s. good well I really wasn’t expecting you to pick up but ill call you tomorrow I have to go to sleep. Goodnight” says Lizbeth

“goodnight” I say as I hang up.

I lay in my bed for maybe 10 minutes thinking about what I am going to do here. Suddenly I hear a thump. Like they hit a wall my first instinct is Roan is back. However, the thumps get closer and closer and finally it’s on my door. I get up from bed ready to curse whoever that is. I open my door only to see a couple going into the room across me. Somebody is being carried, but they look like they are having a good time. All I hear is one of them say “Sorry” but then the door closes. I get a little upset that there are so many people here and they are all having the time of their life. Me on the other hand I am locked up in my room. I could be having Jacob here to entertain me but I told him to leave. Wonder what he is doing, I didn’t even get his number.

I discard the thought and tell myself it’s time to go to sleep and so I do.

I wake up its maybe nine, I start getting dressed throw on my t shirt and gray pajamas, brush my teeth throw some water on my hair. I open the door I see someone is getting in the elevator.

“Hold the elevator please” I say

The person’s hand can be seen place on the elevator door so it won’t close I rush to the elevator. As I get on it I see him. Kohl.

“Hey, Kohl? wasn’t it? I say acting as if I am not sure of his name.

“Yes, that is correct. Joel” He says affirmatively

I get excited at the thought that he remembered my name.

“Why are you here? I ask stupidly

“Came to visit a friend. He stays here” says Kohl.

I don’t believe one word of it but I appreciate that he is being compassionate enough to not tell me the truth.

“Oh cool” I say

“What about you why are you here? Asks Kohl

“I am staying here, until I don’t know when. When I find a job and settle down” I reply in an all too honest way. Probably enough to scare him off.

“Oh cool” He replies

I assumed this is where it ended. I walk of the elevator. So does he and we just wave goodbye to each other.

I start to make myself a cup of coffee, when  I hear

“How good are you making coffee for someone else? Asks Kohl.

“I don’t know you tell me” I say as I hand him my cup of coffee. He drinks it slowly almost too slow.

“I haven’t set up yet but, you are hired. You can be my assistant” Says Kohl.

“Really, when do I start” I ask.

“How fast can you put on something not sexy like that” says Kohl pointing at my clothes.

I laugh and reply

“Not that long maybe five minutes” I say.

“Okay well then your job starts in five minutes” says Kohl.

We walk back up to my room. I get dressed while he talks.

“Basically, right now we need a location, as well as equipment to get an office running. I am starting a foundation. So event planning skills are a must” says Kohl.

I come back into the room and Kohl looks disapprovingly.

“To attract money, you must look the part, however for today’s work that will be fine” Says Kohl. He starts going through my clothes. Disapprovingly again.

“Add to our agenda for today, a shopping spree” adds Kohl.

I go back into the restroom to finish fixing my hair and already start having doubts. Do I really want to work for the person I’m dying to f**k? He is bossy and I like that but am I going to like him bossing me around. I come back in the room.

“I am ready when you are boss” I say stupidly.

So we head out.
