Chapter 15

My head hit the table top. I looked around. There was Spartan table cloth next to me, maybe it was covering me at some point. Screw drivers, chisels, and hammers, scattered around the concrete floor. I got up and felt my pockets. Nothing. Didn't I bring a pistol? I shook my head. Collin wouldn't do that. He may have tried to kill me, but that had to be a mistake. His eyes weren't supposed to be gray. In fact, I thought I saw someone entirely different. Could it be that the Master guy Bridge was talking about controlling Collin? If so, is that how we got our powers? Through this Master? But that couldn't be right either. If this Master gave us these strange powers near the end of seventh grade, something should have happened over the summer. Camus could become a dragon, so technically he had powers. But why would the Master try to kill his own pawns? Or what if the reason we have powers is because of something else entirely?

I walked over into a random classroom and sat down in a desk. Better not think too much about our powers, at least not yet. The black chair spun when I sat down in it. It had wheels, so I pushed myself over to a computer, on the edge of the classroom. I punched the power button, but it was dead. I pulled out the power cord and pressed my thumb against the metal parts. It grew white, but I felt nothing. The computer started up again, making a long forgotten humming sound. The HP logo glowed in the dark room. None of the lights were on, but the computer's notification lights. I logged into the computer, and accessed all the school's files. I honestly had no idea what I was doing. Just this, feeling, about something. With a teacher's access code, I opened the school's files. Expenses, books, applications, but one file titled, history, I click on that one, and there many dates. 1990-1991, 1991-1992, 1992-1993... I opened the 2014-2015. Even more files in this one. Grades, Students, Bus Delay Procedures, and one that caught my eye was Medical Anomalies. I kid you not, under that, at least 13 cases of "Medical Anomalies". Ranging from fluorescent hair to a "wooden touch". I tried to open that file, but the code I was using apparently didn't have enough security detail. Duh, this was Mr. Davis', a science teacher. Not like he exists anymore. I took a look at all the dates, within the month of May, at the end of my seventh grade year. Six girls, seven guys. I checked the names. I didn't see Collin's, Keva's, or Emily's names on there. And one name underlined and bold:

Symptoms: Unusually high amounts of stored electricity. Can pass through most solid objects. Cannot be sensed in any of the known 5 senses under certain circumstances.
