today is your birthday
and
I really just stopped in
to say hello
I only popped by
to let you know
someone is thinking of you
who doesn't
need you to fix a car,
a ride home from the bar,
a fence to mend,
a package to send ...
I wanted your day to be pleasant,
I brought you a present,
but I couldn't resist,
when you gave me that kiss,
and became another on the take.
but at least, I left you a cake ...
