A Chapter by Lyn Anderson

inspired by the following http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/redzone/1804319/

"
A poem
should slide
inside,
make you
feel
something,
anything!
grab you by the
(you decide)
it isn't about
counting the
syllables,
prying apart
the lines;
it should
reach right in
and
grab your

heart.

oooh I love the song you chose to go with this poem... "Take Me Down".. but the poem, the poem... ditto barleygirl and N.S., and yes yes yes, grab your heart!! just within poetry itself there is soooo much diversity of styles and structures and form, as well as subject matter, that IF read and appreciated it's a wild ride to say the least... "recckless" even and oh so worth it...

I posted that Ntozake Shange poem because it was reckless in form and needed in the face of wooden views on what is poetry, what is art...

so KL, I have always appreciated the diverse roads you have taken me on... WHEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Immediately that poem you posted captivated me, which is what it was meant to do. Thank you.
Yes, exactly . . . people who get tangled up in structure are usually engaged in avoidance. The real challenge of writing is to summon the courage & the honesty to really spill it. Even tho I can appreciate the careful crafting of a couple of your sonnets I read yesterday, it's these colorful splatters of reality that really stay in my mind for days afterwards (((HUGS)))
