Escape

Escape

A Chapter by Kaity Fisher

They say everything happens for a reason,

Do you ever wonder what that reason is?

I tie a knot in the rope and grab on

There's nothing to grasp

So I let go.

Hit my knees, clasp my hands, close my eyes.

Pray to god like he's really there.

Ask why am I this way?

Can't things ever change?

I can't take this anymore.

Put my running shoes on and run,

Catching my breath, never slowing down.

Too far to look back,

Pushing too hard,

Gotta escape this place.

Why can't I give up when I swear I will?

Keep living for the past, ignoring the present.

Holding onto everything,

Never letting go.

Until the weight gets too heavy.

Hit my knees, wipe my eyes, lay still.

Wonder why I'm even here.

Living so unperfect.

Things will never change.

Can't take this anymore.

Put my running shoes on and run,

To the middle of nowhere, never get there.

Too strong to let go,

Pushing too hard,

Gotta escape this place.

Too small.

Too weak.

All alone, drowning.

Help me escape this place.

Put my running shoes on and run,

Catching my breath, never slowing down.

Too far to look back,

Pushing too hard,

Gotta escape this place.

Put my running shoes on and run,

To the middle of nowhere, never get there.

Too strong to let go,

Pushing too hard,

Gotta escape this place.

They say everything happens for a reason,

Do you ever wonder what that reason is?
