The Old You

The Old You

A Chapter by Kaity Fisher

Do you recall

That night I met you?

How great things used to be?

Cause now the person who I am lately

Isn't who I want to be.

When I said yes,

Did you know this isn't what I signed up for?

When I said forever,

I wanted happiness

And unconditional love.

Now, instead, everything I've always wanted

I'm stuck fighting for.

Days turn into long, endless nights

That I spend crying until I wake.

I knew you were drama

But never realized it

Until it was too late.

What else can I do?

I just want to be with you.

Where is my safe haven

That is no longer your arms?

We've been here too many times before.

People never change.

Just like you and your made up games.

I don't deserve this

I don't need this.

You've only treated me

The way you promised you wouldn't.

Who are you?

Not the man I fell in love with.

That's for sure.
