Do You Remember?

Do You Remember?

A Chapter by Kaity Fisher

Do you remember

Those songs we used to sing,

Those smiles and laughs, everything?

Hard to believe it;

Everything you said to me

Everything we used to be

Is now just a memory,

That won't ever escape my mind.

Do you remember

Those words you promised me?

How you'd never, ever hurt me

But look where we are now.

Every word you once spoke to me,

Every action used to persuade me,

Were nothing but lies.

That's the unspoken, brutal truth.

I haven't moved from the spot

That you left me.

Left unable to take my mind

Off of you.

How do you forget someone

That meant the world to you?

I never meant anything to you

To hear that hurts worse than

Any other wound you've caused.

Been wasting my nights

Crying over you

Crying over us

And who we used to be.

Can't things ever go back to

The way they were before?

Do you remember

The connection we once shared?

Now I'm long gone.

You'll never know what you had

Until you see me happy

With someone new.
