Jealousy.

Jealousy.

A Chapter by isabel, the lonely genius.

They arrived at the club Dolce in no time, but the line-up made the wait to get in made the journey twice as long. Black, bulky SUVs were lined up, people hopping off them and then the next. It was nearly their turn to face the roaring photographers and their blinding flashes. “This is some club, hey?” Marshall commented. "Yeah..." Danielle replied. The door opened for Marshall to exit first and a heap of screams were heard, almost deafening. Danielle followed him and the screaming was enhanced. Now, Danielle most certainly went deaf. They tried to rush through the red carpet with the photographers yelling out their names craving for Danielle's and Marshall's attention. They both stopped twice and continued to walk towards the entrance. From it, Danielle could see it was going to be crowded. She instantly got a hold of Marshall's hand to not to lose him in the crowd. Marshall felt her touch and gripped tightly to her palm. "VIP up here!" somebody pointed out. "Let's go" Marshall directed. Still not letting go, Danielle followed Marshall to what seemed to be a balcony reserved for exclusive guests. They both walked up the stairs to the area, with a glass cover so the dance floor downstairs was still visible. Danielle stood next to the glass and saw people already getting their groove on and having a good time. She couldn't help but smile and was eager to join them. She turned around to Marshall, to see him sitting down relaxed. She frowned. "You aren't gonna dance?" she asked. "Not in the mood" he replied. "Then why did you come?" she asked a bit annoyed. "Just a night out. Better than doing nothing" he insisted. "Well I came here to have a good time and you were part of the plan" she explained. "Don't let me stop you from having a good time. You go ahead and dance" he insisted. Danielle sighed "At least come down with me." "Alright, then. I could do with a drink" Marshall agreed. They went to the bottom floor where the bar and the dance floor was. Immediately, Danielle headed to the dance floor leaving Marshall to make his own way to the bar.  "Danielle!" a recognisable voice called out from behind her. She turned around and then widened her mouth in surprised. "Carl!" she yelled back over the heavy based and loud music. She shifted her way through the dancing people to get to her friend. "Carl! I haven't seen you since last year!" she said excitedly. "Oh my God, I know! You went to LA and left me in New York all alone..." Carl joked. They went back years. They were friends ever since he planned her 20th birthday party. 16 years they've been friends. "What you doing here, anyways?" Carl asked. "I'm doing some promo for my new record" she explained. "That's great!" he said "Hey, do you wanna dance?" "Sure!" Danielle said willingly. Marshall sat at a stool and ordered "Just a Diet Coke." "Damn, you at a club and you still drink that s**t?" Dre commented from behind. Marshall turned around. "Yo Dre" Marshall greeted with a hand shake. Dre sat next to him and said "A tonic, please. What you doing in New York?" "I'm helping Danielle with the promo. Jimmy decided our song'll be the lead single" Marshall said before taking a sip of his chilled Diet Coke still in its can. "Hey, about her. I talked to Paul about her" Dre was interrupted. "Man, don't listen to Paul. He doesn't know what he's talking about" Marshall said pissed off. "I know, man. She's nothing like that. She's really cool once you get to meet her" Dre said in a soothing tone trying to calm Marshall down. "Just f**k him" Marshall said. "So, if you wanna go further than friends, then go right away" Dre suggested. Marshall knew well that's what he wanted. He tried to smile, but he prevented it by pushing his tongue against his cheek. "Aight, man. I'mma go" Dre said, patting Marshall's back. "Later Dre" he said. Finishing off his Diet Coke. He got up and was ready to head back to Danielle but an obstacle was stopping it all. As soon as Marshall  laid eyes on Mariah, he wanted to get away, but it was too crowded to move anywhere. She was clearly coming his way with a grin on her face. Marshall pushed himself back on the bar trying to get away from her, but it was a dead end. "Hey baby" she said too confidently placing her hands on his chest. "Mariah, go" Marshall demanded moving her hands away from him. "C'mon, the night's young" she said, pushing herself towards him. Marshall tried to push her away without being violent but she was too on him. "Leave me alone" he said. "What's wrong, baby?" she asked. "You. Get the f**k out of my life. I hate you. Just go" Marshall yelled but not loud enough for every head to turn. "Baby, please..." Mariah pleaded, leaning in for a kiss. Marshall shoved her out of his and stormed through crowd leaving Mariah hanging. Marshall headed upstairs, but Danielle dancing away with Carl caught his eye. The way she was so free and careless, just having fun, with Carl. Marshall tightened a fist on top of the anger he got from Mariah appearing. Marshall almost stomped his feet back to VIP and sat down like a spoiled child. He crossed his arms and scoffed to himself and just sat there in regret and jealousy. "Carl, it was so great seeing you again!" Danielle said. "You two!" they blew kisses at each other as they parted. "I know you want me baby, you know I want you too" the next song started playing. The voice was too familiar to Danielle and she couldn't help but smile and biting her lip. She looked for Marshall on the floor to see whether he'll dance with her now. He wasn't to be seen anywhere. The only other place he could have been was VIP. Danielle rushed up to the second floor to see Marshall with a scowl on his face, making him almost unattractive. "What's up with you?" Danielle asked. Marshall looked at her with a serious glare. "I thought you said you came here to have fun with me" he reminded her. "And I am. So what's the problem?" she asked. "Just didn't think you'd be dancing with anyone else..." Marshall said a bit sad. "What, Carl?" she asked. Danielle started laughing hysterically and Marshall looked at her as if there was something wrong with her. "Yo actually thought. Oh my God" Danielle continued laughing. "What's so funny?" Marshall insisted. "Is that why you're here sulking and being jealous? Because of Carl?" Danielle asked under her giggles. Marshall didn't answer. "Well, the joke's on you because he's gay" Danielle informed him still laughing. Tears were ready to fall down her face. Marshall just looked blank and stupid, only making her laugh even more. Danielle's laugh was contagious and Marshall started laughing at himself. They were both laughing. "Oh God. Marshall, I did come here with you. I wouldn't be leaving here without you either" Danielle informed him. A sigh of relief came out of Marshall. "Well, I'm really glad" Marshall said smiling at her. "Will you dance with me now?" she asked him, realising Superman was still playing. "Sure" he said. They both got up and headed downstairs. The night was ready to begin.
