“You’re degrading yourself.” Tandy told Parrish, sitting on the couch in the living room. “Leave that woman be.”

“Well, I’m not talking to her. I haven’t since I got home.”

     “Good.”

“But it’s not like this is a permanent thing.”

Tandy let out a loud sigh. “Honey, please take my advice and stop talking to this woman. The two of you have gone back and forth, sideways and all around for as long as you’ve known each other.”

     “Well, yeah, but "“

     “But nothing, Parrish.”

Tandy faced her daughter and put her hands inside of hers. “Leave her alone, baby. She’s no good for you. Please. I don’t want to see you get broken down so far that you can’t get back up.” She said. “I’m sure she’s a great woman… just not for you.”

Parrish sighed and replied, “I have to let this relationship run its course. When it’s meant to be over, I’ll know.”

Tandy shook her head and let go of Parrish’s hands. “You’re beginning to lose yourself. You’re stronger than that.”

“Well… looks like I finally met someone who was even stronger than me.”
