![]() Chapter 18A Chapter by KeevanI swallowed and tried for the third time to stand up. The last two times I tried, I got dizzy and had to sit. But the third time, I made it. Ignoring the fact that I didn't have shoes on, or regular clothes, I walked to the window and opened it, looking out. Central City was in pieces. There were chunks of buildings, and buildings caving in everywhere. People were running in terror. Envy--in his dragon form--was flyling around the sky, breathing fire everywhere, roaring ferociously. "That's new," I mumbled. The ground started shaking again. I looked around the room and saw my jeans and sweatshirt, folded up neatly. There was a gun hiding under my jeans. "Thank the Lord,' I said as I picked it up and ran back to the window. This time, instead of looking out, I jumped out of it. I was only on the second story, anyway, so it wasn't that bad. People were running, shoving, and pushing others to get away from the destruction in the streets. There werwe loud noises and crashes. Military personel was mixed in with the terrified people. And then I saw it. A big tower made of cement seeming to grow into the sky. Two people were on it, making it happen. It was alchemy. And Edward and Alphonse were probably the ones doing it. Without thinking, I ran down the street to Central Command. ______________________________________________________________________________
"Lucy!" Lieutenant Hawkeye nearly screamed when I reached Central Command. There were barriers out front. Hawkeye immediately hugged me and shouted, to be heard above the noise, "I thought you were at the hospital in a coma!?" "Just woke up," I replied. "What's been going on!?" "Earthquakes," she started. "and that thing." She pointed at Envy, still flying around in the sky. To my left, I saw a hot air balloon was blowing up, Colonel Roy Mustang himself using his alchemy to do it. "He's going to fight the dragon?" I asked. "I'm going with." Without so much as glancing back at Hawkeye, I ran to the balloon and jumped into the basket just as the colonel climbed it. We took off. "What the hell!?" he shouted, actually seeing me. "L-Lucy!?" "Yes, Colonel," I said. "I'm not backing out. I'm fighting with you and the Elrics." He looked over the side of the basket and sighed, saying, "We're already one hundred feet up, I guess we have no choice." I cocked my gun and saw that the balloon was skimming the side of a building that was still in pretty good shape. When we peeked over the top, Envy was snickering on the other side, saying, You'll never win, puny humans! "Think again," I said under my breath as I got on the edge of the basket and jumped out. "You idiot!" I heard the colonel shout faintly as I landed on the roof of the building. I aimed the gun at Envy's eye and shot a round of bullets. Nearly half of them missed, but he was screaming in agony writhing around in the sky. He smashed in the building, and I knew it was going to collapse. "Not good, not good," I mumbled as I clapped my hands together and placed them on the roof of the building. The alchemic rush flew through through me, and I made a giant platform that rose in the air with me on it. I frantically searched around for Envy, and saw him---with Edward and Alphonse riding on his back. "Damn it!" I shouted to myself, not knowing a way to get over there at all. Actually, Envy started coming my way, and I braced myself as he flew headfirst into my platform. It broke in half from Envy ramming it headfirst, and it crumbled beneath me. When I fell, I made sure that I landed on Envy's back. I did, but almost slipped off his scales as his body was still in motion with Edward and Alphonse still climbing all over his back. I put the handle of the gun in my mouth and started to crawl up Envy's back to his head, a plan forming in my head. If I could get close enough to Envy's eye, then maybe I could shoot him out of the sky and then think of some other way to kill him. ______________________________________________________________________________
"Al, hold on!" Edward screamed at his brother. "Be careful not to fall!" "I'm not stupid, Brother!" Alphonse screamed back. I sighed and continued to climb up the scales, it becoming more and more difficult. "Hey, what are you--" Edward shouted when he first saw me, followed by, "Wait--Lucy!?" I nodded frantically with the gun in my mouth and continued to climb the scales to Envy's head. He was beging to fly around madly, spinning and looping and whatnot. But I managed to get the gun out of my mouth and in my hand, loaded. I shot the remaining bullets, which weren't much, and saw the blood fly from Envy's eye. He screamed in agony once again and seemed to flop out of the sky, crashing down to the Earth below. "Hang on!" I screamed at Edward and Alphonse. They were already holding on for their lives. Down and down we went, Alphonse shrieking as we did so. Then we finally hit ground, Envy's neck slapping back. But he was still alive. "Edward, Alphonse!" I shouted, clapping my hands together to do alchemy. They both understood, and clapped their hands together as well, all three of us slapping our hands down on Envy's scales, unleashing a wicked amount of alchemy.
