Fugitives: Chapter 20

Fugitives: Chapter 20

A Chapter by Eva Sirois

Asher agrees that I need time off, so Asher took me and a couple other members of the Rebellion to Lythel. After a time, we arrive outside of a large farmhouse.

I knocked on the farmhouse's door. It opened after a second, and Elijah stood there in the doorway. He stared at me for one full second before letting out a yell and grabbing me, hugging me. “Kya! Kya! You're alive!! You escaped!!”

Razel appeared outside the house, yelling and grabbing me. Naya appeared and gave me a large hug. I was crying, I was so happy. I felt a small tug on my shirt, and I looked down.

Kielle was standing there. She looked up at me. “Kya?”

I reached down and hugged her hard. “Kielle!” She laughed and hugged me back.

“I missed you!” she chanted over and over again.

Razel invited us all inside, and we accepted. After a long, heart-warming visit that lasted over a week, I left, explaining things to Kielle and Elijah. Elijah looked very dissappointed and sad that I didn’t stay, and I think that he was maybe a bit put out that Asher and I were together. Kielle had cried a lot, but in the end she gave me the Histories to take with me. I have given it to Asher for safekeeping, and in the hopes that he will put it to good use.

I know that Esryn is still undefeated, but I am finally satisfied that he has stopped coming for me. I can continue to train with all of my friends of the Rebellion, and to spend time with Asher. I also know that to free all of the slaves, will require a lot more work and bloodshed. We need to overthrow the house of Dermen, and to set a good king and queen who will rule the country will kindness and just. I also know that I have to at least see if my mother is still alive, and if she is, then I need to rescue her. I know that if I tell Asher my plans, then he will immediately shoot them down. He is really overprotective of me, but I know that he’s right in this instance. I will not give up hope, though. I will rescue my mother if it kills me in the process. It seems I have work to do.
