The Team: Chapter 6

A Chapter by Eva Sirois

Cy

I wandered through the halls. I slipped inside of an unused boys bathroom, where a tall, blond senior was waiting for me. He turned around, and his blue eyes glinted. “Cy? What do you have?”

I opened my black notebook. “One boy " computer geek " bullied daily. Is in fact trapped in a locker at this second.” I turned a page. “A girl " brilliant at drama " can see clearly through things.” I turn a page again. “Another boy " history nerd " can stand up for something he believes in.” I flipped through the book. “Another girl " Native American background " obsessed with animals, seems to have a large kind streak.” I turned the page again, and landed on the peculiar one. “A girl. Solitary type.” I hesitated. “She has a big secret.”

My companion started pacing again. “Computer we can use. Drama we can use. History, well, yeah, I guess we can use. As for the other two, I'll still welcome them in.”

I look up at him. “How will the animal girl be of any use?” I asked quietly.

“She's a victim, isn't she? Sonya belongs with us. And what about the last girl, hmm?"

I hesitated again. “She has a secret. She is an outcast. She has the right to hold a place in our team.”

He sent me a smile. "As does the other girl." He nodded absently. “Okay, fine. Names?”

I consulted my notebook. “Computer nerd " Miles. Drama girl " Kessa. History geek " Julian. Animals " Sonya. The other girl is Alia.”

He turned to go out of the bathroom. “Thanks, Cy.”

My glasses glinted in the light. “My pleasure.”
