The Sparkle

The Sparkle

A Chapter by Kenneth The Poet

this thing, this menace that
sparkles us into blidness
has reinforced the
notion that men are to be
these sensitive p***y types

this is wrong because
Dirty Harry and Blue Eyes
would fight to their deaths
just to see their collective
manliness conquer onward

the vampire story
is death mind you, death of
the American
male personality as
the betas, the p*****s rise

the women prefer
men with moxie, moxie
by proxy even,
because alphas propogate
the stuff needed to fight on

the sparkle may kick
the s**t out of mere mortals
like Harry and Frank,
but on the level ball field,
the sparkle dies mankind's death

Sparkle vampires are innocuous -- this is why they are unsuitable for either horror or romance.

I always put vampires as a horror villain from Old Europe -- the anti-meritocratic aristocracy who literally consumes the peasant. This is a particularly potent fear for America -- no only was meritocracy still-born, but the vampires even feast on its corpse and force you to face the death of the American Dream.
Zombies are the monster of American Democracy. Shambolic, uninterested, gluttonous, and multiplying -- in small numbers they can be ignored, in large numbers they are unstoppable.

I don't think that zombies can rescue the concept of masculinity either. If anything, they propose a radically de-gendered future.
