work gets off to a good start :D

Khya yanked the bathroom door open, clinging to her towel as she ran to answer the phone. She grabbed it and fumbled to answer it.

“Yes” she said breathlessly.

“Khya! Where are you? We’re going to be really late.”

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry! But don’t panic about it Tommy, I’ll be there by 7.00.”

“But we’re meant to start at 6.30.”

“You’ll just have to start without me.”

“But you’re the head chef!”

“You’ll be fine without me for half an hour.” And with that Khya hung up and padded to her bedroom, leaving behind a trail of wet footprints. She dressed hastily pulling on a thong and her baggy white catering trousers, then clipping on the matching bra and pulling on a tank top, she slipped on the matching white jacket. Towel drying her long golden hair with one hand, Khya pulled on some trainers with the other and then she stood up to leave, dumping the towel on the floor. She ran a hand through her hair and stormed out the apartment, grabbing her keys on the way out; agitated that she had been rushed.

She drove as fast as the traffic allowed to the address Thomasina had given her earlier that day. It was 7.00 pm precisely when she arrived and Tommy was stood at the front door of the house waiting for her. Only it wasn’t a house, it was more of a castle, breath takingly beautiful with countless arched windows and a long sweeping drive. Khya had never seen or cooked in anywhere like it. It was amazing. She climbed from her red Mini Cooper and went to met Tommy.

“Typical!” Tommy muttered to herself taking in Khya’s appearance; trousers slung low on her hips, jacket open to reveal a purple tank top, strawberry blonde hair dishevelled and her impish face hidden by that vulgar pink fringe.

“Why do you do this to me?” she cried. “We’re behind schedule now and this is our most important client ever!”

“Don’t sweat it Tommy. It will be fine. Who are we catering for any way?”

“He’s asked for complete confidentiality so I’m afraid I can’t tell you.”

“But that’s not fair! I’m your partner.”

“Still I can’t say. Please don’t fuss Khya, you’ll find out soon enough and I need you to focus. You have to start cooking, NOW!”

Tommy sighed; this was so like Khya, testing her nerves to the limit. She led the way through the bustling entrance hall to a gleaming kitchen. A group of under-chefs stood to attention as Khya entered the room. She smiled at them happily; the kitchen was perfect, which she knew led to perfect cooking.

“It’s great Tommy!” Khya enthused.

“Good. Now start cooking… and do up your jacket.”

With that Tommy stalked from the room to boss some more people around. Khya winced; someone had certainly agitated her today. She did up her jacket and took charge of her kitchen, whisking around her charges correcting their mistakes and cooking herself. The kitchen staff gradually began to boil from the heat of the ovens and simmering pans. Waiters and waitresses flicked in and out of the kitchens during the following hours, collecting platters and dishes to serve to the guests. But Khya and her fellow workers barely noticed them and the noise from the party as they continued to slave over the hot stoves. How ever it all ran perfectly smoothly, just as Khya expected.

The only wrong thing I could say about it is that it was too short. It’s really good so far, it reminds me of an anime or manga. It is fun filled and I very much enjoy that of this. Your main character has a very nice personality. She gives off the feeling of reckless, but gets the job done, even if not on time. Nice write.
