Chased

Chased

A Chapter by BrynnaW.

It only took a moment to hotwire the care before they were on their way speeding through lanes and cutting people off in order to ensure their own safety. The guards were close behind in their own vehicle, taking every chance they could get to shoot. Glass shattered like rain all around them. Dagger cursed with her head ducked to avoid any bullets and told Hack to swap seats with her so that she could drive.

"No. We don't have time!" Hack screamed over the gun fire.

"Swap with me now!" Dagger softened, "I can get us out of this but, you've got to trust me."

Hack nodded slightly and they leaned over into each other's seats, keeping his hands on the steering wheel until Dagger got her hands on it too. A bullet crashed through the window inches from Hack's head and he dropped down into the passenger seat. A gun was put onto his lap.

"You need to shoot them. I can't do both." Dagger glanced around feverishly. Hack stared at the gun like it was foreign. He had to do something though, to get rid of the guards. He leaned out of the window but Dagger swerved the car to avoid hitting another car in front of them causing him to fall back inside the car. She shoved him toward the window with one of her hands. The gun wavered in his hands. If only he could aim the gun properly... The car swerved again. Hack didn't try aiming the gun as he shot the bullets one after another while being careful to avoid innocent people. It was useless, though, he could see, because their windows were bullet proof and he ran out of bullets before he could even try the tires.

"I'm out of ammo!" Hack yelled.

"What?! You've got to be kidding me!" Dagger paused, "Hold on tight!" The car sped up and did a U-turn.

"What are you doing?! You're headed straight for them!" Hack gripped the door as if it was his life line. The guard's car turned around and headed in the same direction in front of them. Hack didn’t understand. Did they know Dagger was being insane and were running away or did they think they were heading back to the warehouse? Dagger was nearly next to them but she pulled off more to the side, aiming for the guard rail.

"Hold on, Hack!" She turned the steering wheel several times as fast as she could to the right and released it; immediately after she grabbed Hack’s hand and squeezed it. The car sped onto the rail and flipped onto the guard’s car beside them. The world spun as they tensed awaiting the impact; someone screamed and they both tried to crouch in case they hit their heads. Then, everything went dark.

i'm quite more happy of how you've changed it to Hack being the Traitor [ even , though he's good , you know what i mean ] and it's a good chance to show Dagger in these tight - knit situations and how she acts in thes close calls and how it's letting her character develop and adopt to change [ but i hope obviously because Dagger was the original traitor , you're not just writing Dagger's part but with you changing it to Hack , but with Hack instead of Dagger . i've enjoyed this chapter but i prefer the first one but it's nice to have some Dagger / Hack interaction as obviously it's not all about developing your characters but it's also about developing your characters when there interacting so you know how much the characters have changed . great write
