reptilian

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

psycho babble

"
It doesn't matter that my frontal lobes know better.

My amygdala loathes the thought of you
a single breath, word, memory --
threatens to eat me alive.

Frozen in the deadlights of your
loosely concealed anger
like a shallow corpse under leaf,

The enlightened part of me ceases to exist,

I shiver helplessly in the dark.
my reptilian brain rules
when you slither in the night.

Author's Note

Lyn Anderson
Amygdala is the center of fear and panic -- the gut reaction to something scary.
Deadlights is something Stephen King said in "It" -- thought it fit here.

Reptilian or no, there's always something to take away. Coincidental CAPTCHA? I think not.

Crazy ramblings have the most profound ideals. We just piece them together one letter at a time.
A very thought provoking poem.

You should be proud of your reptilian brain. It produces great writings.
Have I mentioned how much I love snakes ? Ha.
Better than being a rat for sure!
This type of fear sucks for sure... It is a paralysis of the soul.

I should have commented on this. I love snakes too, just not the reptilian side of my own brain.
