12: Strange

12: Strange

A Chapter by Mikhaela M.

Ripples.

I heard ripples of water, and it made me snap my eyes open.

What?

Now where am I?

This place is completely different from what I was expecting. I thought I'll just fall into the dark once again after what I did, but I didn't. Who knew I would end up in another place in this dream? I know I am surrounded by shadows at this moment and there is nothing that provides me light. I looked up, and just as what I predicted, everything was black. It was so dark around me.

My surrounding was empty. Nothing to see, nothing to look at. But the place was so spacious, I know that for sure.

I took a step forward. Ripples. That's what I heard again, and I looked down, seeing the ripples of water forming under the foot that I stepped forward.

Weird. But I know I am not stepping on water. I can't feel anything wet. Then I took a few steps again, more ripples of water formed as if I am actually walking on water.

I pressed my lips tightly, and looked around me. Empty.

Just where the hell am I?

I know I shouldn't be asking that question myself right now that I decided to not go back to reality anymore, ending my life in other words... I want to die in my sleep because I just can't take it anymore. But I did not expect I would end up in another place. Another place where I can feel, touch, move, and so. Where I wanted to go was that complete darkness as if my eyes were shut closed and all I can feel was numbness.

I ran my fingers through my hair, gritting my teeth. My emotions are mixing up again. Damn it! Just when are these feelings going to stop bothering me? I fell down on my knees, my chest tightening as the emotions gathered inside me again. I just hate this feeling. I wish I can just go numb forever.

I was just there on my knees, and I know I looked so miserable. No, I wasn't crying. I wasn't shedding tears. I am already so tired of crying. That's why I wanted to stay in that darkness I was before, right?

Then something suddenly appeared in front of me. But I didn't feel any reaction about it. Maybe I'm already fed up with these stupid emotions. Oh, and this thing that appeared in front of me? It isn't just some thing. It is a huge thing that is made of stones that were already of dark color. The roof, the stones, and the big clock hanging against the tower, they already explain what that thing is.

A clock tower.

It sounds really irony, saying that something suddenly appeared in front of me. But what could I not still believe after everything? I'm in my own dream anyway. In my sleep.

And another strange thing that happened to me right after the tower appeared.

My body just felt so heavy. Like something I couldn't explain is inside me. But the worst thing is... my body is walking on its own toward the clock tower.

And I really have no idea what I would see in there.
