Millard Fillmore (President #13) (1850-1853)

Millard Fillmore (President #13) (1850-1853)

A Chapter by MandaBear
"

Thirteenth President of the United States of America

"
Millard Fillmore is number 13.
He was born every poor.
He only had less than one year of education.
No one imagined him becoming president.

Millard Fillmore wanted to be educated.
He hired a tutor named Abigail Powers.
Millard Fillmore ended up marrying Abigail Powers.
He had seen a united states map for the first time at 19 years old.

Millard Fillmore had a stove and a bathtub put into the white house for the first time.
Although he had a stove he didn't know how to use it neither did the cook.
Well, at least he could get clean.
Although I wish he could have made me a grill cheese. Oh well.

Millard Fillmore was the last of the Whig Party.
He signed the Fugitive slave act.
Which made it illegal to help slaves runaway.
I am sure that caused some trouble in the North.

Millard Fillmore established the first library in the white house.
He Founded the University of Buffalo.
He even wrote to Napoleon,
Napoleon wanted to annex Hawaii but Millard Fillmore told him no such event was going to happen.

So this is Millard Fillmore.
A one term president.
So I will end this with a Quote from the man himself.
"An honorable defeat is better than a dishonorable victory."

Each of these Presidents has incredible facts about them that I have never heard! Thank you for this project. The earlier presidents had a more distinct rhyme scheme, but I'm really enjoying the lack of scheme and more of a go-with-the-flow style. Good job!

A very interesting President. He didn't do much good. At least he was a President. Thank you for the description of this man.
