Rutherford B Hayes (President #19) (1877-1881)

A Chapter by MandaBear
"

Nineteenth President of the United States of America

"
Rutherford Birchard Hayes is number 19.
Some people called him Rutherfraud.
He only wanted to serve one term.
He was born in Delaware, Ohio.

Rutherford B. Hayes had the first phone in the white house.
His phone number was 1.
Alexander Graham bell installed the phone.
I wonder if he made prank calls?

Rutherford B. Hayes fought in the Civil war like most before him.
He was wounded four times.
He had his horse shot out from under him.
Even better his sons were awarded the congressional medal of honor.

Rutherford B. Hayes's wife Lucy was called Lemonade Lucy.
She didn't allow alcohol, dancing. and playing cards.
She only allowed them to drink lemonade.
I wonder if he ever got a lemonade hangover?

Rutherford B. Hayes had some troubles in office.
However, he did do some good.
He signed legislation to allow women to plead cases in the supreme court.
He also ended reconstruction.

Rutherford B. Hayes won by just one vote.
He had some ups and downs.
Even though he only served one term,
He did try to do some good and that's all that matters.
