      The Faint Heartbeat- Chapter Three

 

       I run in fear toward the body. I reach to feel her pulse. It's so faint and weak as I hear the slow and quiet thump-thump-thump of her heartbeat. I search for my cell phone in my right jacket pocket. Starting to dial 9-1-1, I look at the girl for a minute and during that minute... her eyes pop open and she stares at me. I fall back at the sight of the opened eyed girl. I hear a clang and know my cell had fallen from my hand. She grabs my cell phone, closes it and says to me in a weak voice,

 

      "I'll see you soon."

 

       Then she shuts her eyes slowly. I get the courage to go closer to the strange girl. I check her pulse again... there isn't one, she's ... dead!
