Chapter 27

yup. updating fast lately,huh?

        When Joshua finally pulled away from me I didn't know what to do. I looked away from where I thought he'd be. I couldn't talk. Too embarrassing. 

        “Izzy?” Joshua asked.

        Crap. Talking. “Yeah?”

        “Did that bother you?” 

        I almost laughed, I was so giddy. In fact, I think I had giggled a little. “No.”

        Joshua laughed. “Good.” 

        I just nodded. Nothing to say.

        “Izzy?” Joshua asked.

        What was with this kid? Couldn't he let me enjoy my happiness? He was ruining my high. “Yeah?”

        “Was that your first kiss?” 

        I nodded. Yeah, it was. Go ahead, make fun.

        “Mine too.” 

        I froze. Joshua's first kiss? Yeah, right, and pigs could fly. “No way.” I didn't believe him. No way, no how.

        “I'm being serious, Izzy.” 

        “So was I.” I sat up and put my hands in my lap. I let my head fall, and knew my hair was blocking my face. 

        “Izzy...” Joshua said. “Izzy...” 

        I didn't move. I didn't want to.  

        “Izzy!” He wasn't yelling but he sounded a little aggravated. He grabbed my chin and faced it towards him. He brushed my hair out of my sightless eyes. “Are you mad? Should I have asked first?”

        “Asked to kiss me?”         

        “Yeah, should I have asked to kiss you?” He sounded nervous.

        “Psh, no.” That was a little too emotional/sensitive for me. I wouldn't have been able to respond.

        “Good.” He said. 

        “What if I would've said yes? What would you have done?” Just playing with him.

        “I would've said 'too bad' and then I would've done this.” 

        He grabbed my chin once again, softly this time, and pulled my face to his. 

        Before he could kiss me I put my finger to his lips. “Joshua?”

        “Yes, Izzy?” He sounded...hopeful?

        “Are we...?” I couldn't finish. Too embarrassing.

        “Yes Izzy, I want you to be my girlfriend.”

        I nodded, and removed my finger from his lips.

        Then I leaned closer to Joshua and engaged in my second kiss ever.
