There is a Raven haven

Where they mostly all gather

A morning hang-out together

Where they like to squawk and blather

About the problems of nest building

And how loving relationships

Can be so fulfilling

Having husband Raven and winged wife

Being partnered for life

How winter will bring

Some extra strife

About those gentle new born deer

They watch slip through trees

How inflation has prices

Creating a financial displease

How the mice they eat

Are in shorter supply

Meaning just how the hell’s a Raven

Supposed to get by

Their mention of how their seating

Will be suffered from winter’s weather

And the possibility of growing

A much warmer type feather

How the now dying grass

Needs no more mowing

Every morning this is how

Their conversations get going

Dave,

As I have been making my rounds of seeking pay a visit to all my friends here on the big WC, just to let them know that this old a*****e is still alive and kickin' (brings back memories of Alive-n-Kickin's Tighter & Tighter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3qXiTdBLIE ), I just had to drop back around for a minute and savor this delectable dish Raven Haven, as a most pleasantly enjoyable read from my perspective as that Darkest of Morbid Writers that you, my friend, have to as yet officially meet.

Are you aware that Ravens & Crows (sort of different versions of that same pesky bird) are bird of carrion, in that, like Vultures, such as America's famed Bald Eagle, Ravens will and do feed upon the carcasses of dead animals, or even dying animals if unable to fend a gather meal feasting flock of them off? Which is the historical source of that term regarding Crows which refers to the mindless feeding frenzy of a flock of Crows as, "A Murder of Crows?"

Now, this is a bit off subject, but I done did said it, in reference to America's Bald Eagle, actually being a friggin' Vulture: If the shoe does fit, one must wear it, so they say, and so, near friggin' prophetically, America's representative bird, as the Bald Eagle, does display the very attributes which America demonstrates to all the world of weaker nations that it invades in the name of saving and liberating. What a Crock of purest Bullshit's Poppycock that well defines the old saying, "The Truth Hurts!"

Back to Ravens and my ego-maniacal darkly morbid mind as a writer of Dark Stories: Story Three in my Dark Story Compilation Book (titled, When Nightmares Rule & Death Prevails, & Other Riveting Tales Of Death, Life, & Religion) is titled Ravenous. As an in depth research Writer, I even take the time to research names, places, etc. that I make use of in my works of fiction, which are always seasoned with just a tad of true life factual events in order to make them fictionally believable to my readers.

And therefore of so, the title Ravenous means to hunger and feed as does a Raven or flock of Ravens, and the fictional name of the bad guy in my dark tale is Byrne, which does mean, "from the Gaelic word Bran meaning of the Raven."

So, now you know why I was attracted to this well written piece of Poetry that does sate my hunger for darkness just a mite in gleaning every word of every line of this fine Poem ...

Ravenous! Read it during that time of night, When Nightmares Rule & Death Prevails: https://www.writerscafe.org/writing/mtcflynndegraham/2862196/

I double dog dare ya!

The first 5 tales in my Dark Story book are independently interconnected, beginning Story One: A Writer's Dilemma, Story Two: Animal Justice, Story Three: Ravenous, Story Four: Wired For Sound, & Story Five: Where Skeletons Lie ...

Really enjoyed the read Dave, for sure and certain1

Very funny Patricia!!
It is no doubt why they have such a high rate of interest in you
I love the imagery of ravens, all gathered 'round, talking about their problems together. Ravens have always been one of my favorite types of birds. They're smart, social, and carry a noble sort of spirit with them wherever they go. Though I have to admit, if I were able to listen to ravens talking about mundane raven drama, I'd be sitting nearby with popcorn and a notepad. Nice work :)
