A Mystery

A Mystery

A Chapter by Dave Brown
"

((....Do unto others before they have the opportunity of doing unto you.....))

"

Still seated at the table

Where she’d sat to eat

Unhappily, no longer moving

A thing she’d never repeat

The shocked household

Had sent out a tweet

About this sad happening

Which had brought an end to

Her heartbeat

It was Hercule Poirot

That tweet had been sent to

To solve this sorry crime

Was what he was contacted to do

Not failing with this outcome

Until he was through

And had vanquished the culprit

To a well deserved waterloo

A clue had been found

Just inside the back door

A smudged footstep

On the clean hardwood floor

And a vial there, just noticed

In a partially closed drawer

Which had an astute Hercule

Searching for clues more

He took a sample

Of a possible culprit’s DNA

Having that result swiftly back

Arriving just over a day

It was of her jealous husband

Who, when confronted

Broke down straight away

He terminally reacting

After his wife’s unfaithful foray

Lamenting about their lost love

That had just slipped away

How her ever constant affairs

He could no longer suffer

For not even one more day

But Hercule knew

Though she’d done him wrong

He’d still have to pay

The estate slowly recovered

Now with one couple gone

Their dearest pet puppy

Was still walked for exercise

But not for quite as long

It was as though

The tune was still playing

Just not the whole song

Simply one more story

Among the great throng

Until the next call for Hercule

Which would too soon

Come along

So very cool. A poem about one of my all time favorite fictional (though sometimes I wonder) characters. And did he by chance use his "little grey cells" to solve this one. Honestly my friend, very cool. I actually started writing a poem the other day about a detective I created and maybe someday I will finish it. Big Agatha fan here, thanks for sharing this.

Recently saw this on an obscure TV channel and truly enjoyed it/ The actor who took the Poirot role had a wonderful voice. (Been told since that it was ? Ustinof, forgive that question mark. ) You presented the story so very well. The author would much appreciate your work!
