Chapter Twenty Six: "You So Love Her"

"I don't have any guestrooms, sorry," Alfons said that night, "but there is a hotel not too far from here. They don't charge alot either." He handed Koda and Al a map to the nearest hotel. I sighed, sad that they couldn't stay. "Thanks, Alfons. Are we allowed to come back tomorrow?" Koda asked, and Alfons answered before I could. "Of course! I'd love it if you came back," he said. I simply nodded. "Ditto," I said. Koda passed the map to Al, and he smiled. Then Koda looked up and said something I never thought I'd ever hear again:

 

 

"Oh! Ed, if you want, I can give your AutoMail a checkup tomorrow."

 

 

My eyes went wide. My heart raced, my palm got sweaty, and I tried hard to keep my cool.

 

I shrugged. "Why not?"

 

I mentally smacked myself. Aww, how jerky did that sound?! WHY NOT?! Real smooth me. Real smooth.

 

"See you tomorrow, Alfons....Edward," Koda said before she turned around and walked out the door.

 

The second Alfons shut the door I fell onto the couch to catch my breath. Every single emotion in me hit me at once, and it was hitting me hard.

Alfons snicked. "You so love her," he said, sitting next to me. I blushed. "Is it...is it that obvious?" I asked, and he nodded. I looked down at my hands, then exhaled a deep breath. "Okay, well...I'm going to head to bed," I said, and Alfons nodded. "I'm heading to the store, be back later!" he shouted up to me as I bounded up the stairs.
